light snow

After two days of record-setting temperatures for the month of February, last night a cold front came accompanied by a lot of wind and deposited a light snow on us. It was barely a trace of snow but today it is 30-40 degrees cooler and overcast. I find it very interesting that the snow melts around the nails on the porch - I guess they are slightly warmer than the wood. Anyway I like how it looks.

These pictures are from a drive I made on Friday, just about 45 minutes away, to stay overnight at a cabin in the mountains. It was a super warm day and the ice on the river was melting but there was still some snow at the higher elevations, especially in among the trees. The snow covered mountain is Long's Peak.
