Electric Bike

We now have an electric bike. My husband is thrilled with his project. It involved taking a mountain bike and then sending away for a kit that changes out some parts and adds a lithium battery and turns it into an electric bike. It was a great success. It is almost done and he's been riding it all over town. It takes about half the time as riding a regular bike. Also you can pedal the bike too and turn off the motor if you want to save battery power. And if the battery runs out while you are out and about you can just pedal it home. It will go about 20 miles on a charge. Below is a picture of the lithium battery pack. You just slide it off the bike and take it indoors and plug it in to recharge it overnight. I haven't ridden it very much myself yet - just around the block. It's a strange feeling to ride a bike and just sit there without pedaling. Here's a link to the kit he used.

my Evoluent Mouse (TM)

From frequent mouse use, I seem to be getting an index finger version of carpal tunnel syndrome which has become annoying. I have found this ergonomic mouse. It took a day to get used to. There are other types out there, and one is a joystick version, but it was not rated as well for doing graphic work or fine details as this one. So far I am liking it. With a normal mouse your hand is in a palm-down position which is bad for the wrist and fingers. With this one the hand is sideways in a hand-shake sort of position. It's very sensitive so I had to turn it down a bit but so far it's working great. You can read about them here.

A Green Yard (for the moment)

I was just thinking about how there is only about a month and a half or so each year when it is really green here. Then the heat and dryness of summer take over and the yard slowly bakes to a brown, the trees look stressed and limp, and flowerbeds wither without their frequent waterings. But now we are in that lovely time of green-ness. We've had a very wet week, unusual for June. Things are still lush. I love it.
