Moose in North Park

It was a great weekend for moose watching. This gangly baby is the same one that's in the third photo below posing with his mother in the brush. He looks large till you see him next to his mother and realize he's still just a calf. Also we saw this large bull on the pass both coming and going back.

The Aspen is Down

It was sad but the large aspen tree was starting to die. They never last that long on the Front Range without getting diseased. We decided to cut it down. The chainsaw did it's work rather quickly. We cut the first trunk to fall into the street. Unfortunately D's aim wasn't that great on the second trunk and it fell on the porch roof. But - no harm done - only the flexible top branches hit the house. We all had a good laugh over that. It provided a lot of wood for a friend's wood stove.
