It's about a 3 mile circuit around, and the wind had a bit of a bite to it. Ice piled up around the edges in chunks, but the center area of the lake still had some open water, filled with hundreds of geese (Canada Geese) . As the sun started to go down they lifted off in noisy small groups, executing giant fly-by circles over the lake, gathering a few strays along the way, and then heading off to the east for their night time resting area, wherever it may be. A storm hovered over the mountains to the west.
