Bisbee Arizona

These are from a recent trip to Arizona, during which we visited the copper mining tourist town of Bisbee. Bisbee is perched in the mountains south of Tucson not too far from the Mexican border. It's now full of art galleries and shops, and has a mining museum and a lot of interesting historical buildings. The underground mines are closed but there is a large open pit mine near the town that is still operating. We took a mine tour of the old Queen Mine on a narrow gauge railroad. Here's a scene from inside the mine - the lift cage and the list of station signals for calling the lift to the various mine levels. Also here's a photo of one of the barrel cacti that are in bloom in August. And the day ends with an Arizonan sunset.
